This specialised module provides foundational and hands-on training in surgical procedures involving laboratory animals. It meets the EU Module 22 requirements and supports researchers in developing competence in pre-operative assessment, aseptic techniques, surgical methods, and post-operative care.

The practical session is strongly recommended for anyone performing surgery. The theory component is a prerequisite.
Yes. You must have access to the Handbook of Laboratory Animal Management and Welfare and be familiar with chapters 9 & 10.
