What is the Cat & Dog Module?

This self-paced online module provides comprehensive training in the welfare, care, and responsible use of cats and dogs in research environments. Aligned with EU Directive 2010/63 and associated learning outcomes, the course explores species-specific needs, husbandry, and humane practices in laboratory or controlled settings.

Learners will gain essential skills in handling, housing, and recognising stress or pain, along with exposure to anaesthesia, sampling, and euthanasia techniques. This module supports HPRA individual authorisation for research involving cats and dogs.
