What is the Large Farm Animal Module?

This self-paced online module is designed for researchers working with large farm animals in agricultural or semi-controlled research environments. Covering cattle, sheep, pigs, and similar domestic species, this course meets the EU species-specific training requirements and addresses practical, ethical, and scientific considerations.

Learners will explore welfare-focused care, pain recognition, anaesthesia, euthanasia, and the influence of animal management on research quality. It is suitable for those pursuing HPRA authorisation for large animal research and fieldwork
