What is the Rodent Module?

The Rodent Module is LAST Ireland’s most in-demand species-specific course, designed to prepare researchers and students for work with rats, mice, and rabbits in controlled laboratory settings. Delivered entirely online, this module emphasizes species biology, welfare, husbandry, and how standardised environments contribute to the integrity and reproducibility of scientific outcomes. It also introduces the core principles of experimental design in rodent-based research.

Successful completion of this module, alongside the Core Module, satisfies HPRA requirements for individual authorisation to work with these species in Ireland.
